Gobrico 24" Soft Close Drawer Slides with Brackets - Full Extension Cabinet Runners for Dressers & Cabinets

I bought this product because it came with the rear mounting bracket and the screws and the price was good. I saw the other reviews saying the initial pull was hard and I thought what wimps. But I should have listened. They were right. Instead of buying something else I tried to fix it. First I figured out by experimenting that it is not the spring that is use to store energy to do the soft close that is causing the hard pull. It adds some resistance but it is not bad. It also is not the shock absorber that is used to do the soft close. The problem is the pin that needs to slide to the locked position so the stretched spring is held stretch. This pin needs to slide when the spring is at it most stretched position and the slide part takes a good amount of force especially if you open the drawer slowly.These slides are rated for a 100 pound load. In my kitchen cabinets I will never get anywhere close to that much load. So the simple solution is to remove the self close and soft close mechanism on one slide. This is simple to do. On the back side of the slide near the end there is a little plastic wedge that is used to hold it in. Use a flat head screwdriver and push it in and back at the same time and the mechanism moves out the back of the rails. You have now removed 1/2 the needed force to pull the drawer open and the self close / soft close still works fine. I think most people would be happy with this simple solution.But I did not stop with this solution. My ex-wife was over and I asked her what she thought of how the drawer worked. She is in the process of redoing her kitchen and was looking at new cabinets. She said her drawers worked better. She can be cruel this way because she knows it will get under my skin. First my ex-wife has no mechanical ability so I did not believe her. I went to a big box store and tried opening many of the drawers on display. Most had undermount slides and she was right. There were easier to open. The few side mount slides were comparable to my fixed solution. But I needed my drawer slide to be better than hers.First I figured out that I had 1 1/8 inch space for the slides on the side. The ideal amount of space is 1 inch. I added a 1/8 shim between the slide and that cabinet. That made it role a little better but did nothing to the hardest part of the pull when the drawer is 2 inches open. While working on this my hands got covered in the grease they put on the slides. This grease kind of looks like petroleum jelly but it was not as slippery as petroleum jelly. I took the remaining self close mechanism apart, wiped it down with paper towels and washed the plastic pieces with dish soap and water. I then reapplied petroleum jelly and put it back together. That made the pin slide better and I thought I was comparable to the under mounted slide I tried in the big box store.Did I stop here. No. If a little petroleum jelly is good more is better. I wiped down everything I could on the slides and reapplied petroleum jelly. That made the drawer slide even easier. Now from a full open position a little push and the drawer goes all the way closed. But this last move seems to have come at a little cost. The drawer is now a little louder than it was before. At first I thought it was just because it was moving faster. I got a sound meter out and tried to measure the difference. It is a few db louder. Not sure why. But still much much quieter than my old slides.At this point I decided to stop. The only thing left I could think of was to try and modify the way the pin worked. But I would run the risk of breaking the self close mechanism and even if it worked I did not see any benefit. I already had a drawer that was working great and I am pretty sure it is better than anything my ex-wife will get. :-)Was easy to install, works great! It took me a little longer than I expected to install but, wasn't because of the product... couldn't line up exactly where it needed for the slides... the cabinet is wood and there were knots where I needed to line the slides up. Had to make some adjustments but, got them to work. Will order more for the other two drawers in my filing cabinet. The plastic brackets that came with the cabinet broke from the weight in the drawers and use.I bought 2 pair. One is hard to pull open the other pair is easier to open but many times the wife for some reason don't get it to close I am not sure if that is the hardware or her. Either way for the money and the time it took me to install I am not really happy.Buen producto solo hay dos cosas1- para instalar es mejor descontar 1 1/16” ya que si solo se descuenta 1” queda muy ajustado y no desliza normal2- los bracket para instalar en la parte trasera la pestaña que es para poner los tornillos está muy corta sería bueno que le agregaran un poco más de espacio ya que si se pone con un taladro de impacto estorba un poco ya que tiene poco espacioVery strong and easy to install if they work correctlyI replaced our old dual sliding oak drawer (standard cheap) for trash/recycling bins the size of two large/tall kitchen bins. Everything went smoothly. I used stronger/longer hardware/screws I already had. Removing the sliders completely was a little tricky because one side releases pushing up and the other side releases pushing down.Opening the drawer is a little tougher than it should be, but that is likely part of the "heavy duty" soft close design. The soft close on this set is amazingly strong; even if you try to slam the drawers like my children do.I would buy these again.Poor quality,loose fit, sticky don't function well!!We are missing the mounts for the hinges so we can't install them.
